Beverly Lister - Beautiful Vintage Inspired Dresses - Lace, Sashes and Stunning Roll Collars

Hi there,

Hope everyone is have a great Thursday?  The weekend is just over the crest of the hill!

I have been somewhat absent of late from my blog, Facebook, Twitter etc because I have been absolutely flat out making, making, making.........literally no spare time for anything else!  This week has been a roller coaster ride of juggling tasks around so I can meet my deadlines.  I'm also trying to help with the editing of the photos from the Glass Oyster photo shoot which is a very labour intensive task - especially if like me, you have very little experience of working with Photoshop .....

Anyway, I digress.  In amongst all this mayhem I went to see the fabulous Beverly Lister today at her lovely boutique - Evangeline Rose Bridal.  Bev not only is a wonderful designer of the most beautiful wedding gowns but she is also bloody great fun and infects you with her enthusiasm.  There is no messing with Bev - she calls a spade and spade and will tell you if she loves your designs..........or not.........as the case may be.  Luckily, she loved the new collection and it will be in her bridal boutique within the next few weeks.

Baltimore - This dress just blew me away when I saw it.  The collar is like nothing I have seen from any other bridal designer at the moment.
Here is a little bit about Beverly.

Beverly Lister emerged as a style leader in bridalwear twenty years ago when she presented slim, unadorned gowns for her first collection. The self-taught designer had created a daring new direction for brides’ attire, fusing inspiration from contemporary fashion with the simple glamour of ‘50’s and ‘60’s American styling.

Bouquet
This new look was an immediate success with brides and retailers alike. She won the prestigious British Bridal Award for New Direction in her first year.

Responding to the demand for a more romantic look, Beverly later launched a range of  feminine, lace gowns. Still minimally detailed, the new designs featured her signature wide satin sashes and bows.

Over the years, Beverly’s philosophy has remained unchanged: use first quality fabrics and trimmings, offer shapes that are simple and flattering and keep detailing to a minimum.

All Beverly Lister gowns are designed and handmade in England to the highest standard of fit and finish.

Glass Oyster Photo Shoot

I am sooo excited as the Glass Oyster photo shoot is taking place next Saturday.  I'm going to be working with some fab people to create some lovely images of my headdresses.  Lots of champagne (well maybe a little as we don't want the shots to be out of focus!!) and some nibbles to keep us going throughout the day.  It's going to be fun and I can't wait to show everyone the results!  Watch this space..................x

New Designs For Spring

Hey, it's Friday!

It's positively spring like out there and to celebrate the coming of the new season, thought I would share with you a couple of new designs for Spring.

Drum roll...................................da dah!

The Clara is simple but striking.  Pair with a floaty, ethereal dress for a relaxed summer wedding look.

Clara - RRP: £95.00

Emiline has a lovely vintage feel - all that beading and tulle.  Would compliment a slinky satin 1930's number perfectly!

Hello Everyone,

Today I thought I would share with you a designer that I discovered on Etsy.  Being an avid "Etsian", I often go searching for the unusual and the different on this wonderful website (www.etsy.com).  The other day I came across a shop called "Rule 42" who handmake beautiful pin wheel bridal bouquets, button holes and decorations such as garlands.

Glass Oyster's New Collection for 2012

I know it's a probably a bit late now but - Happy New Year!

And with the new year, Glass Oyster has launched it's new collection for 2012.  As always, the floral element is ever present, as I just love my florals, but these have been expressed in soft organza flowers and tulle rosettes as well as my usual bead work.  I've particularly loved the hand beaded embroidery on some of the pieces such as Bethany, Nina and Paulette.  Some of the pieces definitely have a vintage vibe such as Nina - the cocktail hat with a large, tulle bow.  Others are soft, romantic pieces such as Gerty which features lace against the shimmer of mother of pearl. The collection will be available in stockists in the early spring. Take a look at the images below and let me know what you think by posting a comment. Email me if you want any further information or are interested in purchasing a piece. Gail. x
