Glass Oyster's New Collection for 2012

I know it's a probably a bit late now but - Happy New Year!

And with the new year, Glass Oyster has launched it's new collection for 2012. As always, the floral element is ever present, as I just love my florals, but these have been expressed in soft organza flowers and tulle rosettes as well as my usual bead work. I've particularly loved the hand beaded embroidery on some of the pieces such as Bethany, Nina and Paulette. Some of the pieces definitely have a vintage vibe such as Nina - the cocktail hat with a large, tulle bow. Others are soft, romantic pieces such as Gerty which features lace against the shimmer of mother of pearl. The collection will be available in stockists in the early spring. What I Get Up To...

Hello,

My name is Gail and I'm the designer behind Glass Oyster. I design and hand make "Unique Treats" - bridal headdresses. Each design is a total one off and usually requires me sewing for hours and hours - sometimes dropping off in front of the TV! I use a mixture of tiny vintage and modern beads, lace, organza or other fabric remnants and re-worked pieces of jewellery in my designs.

I love florals so you will see a lot of those in my work. I would say my style is romantic with a hint of vintage and a pinch of glamour.

I'm also a lover of all things hand made and hand crafted so I tend to share a lot about great designers I come across.

I'm very lucky to live in a beautiful part of Hampshire in the UK - slap bang in the middle of the South Downs National Park. A Scot originally, I share my home with my husband, two children, one cat and two hamsters called "Teddy" and "Laser".
