Glass Oyster's New Collection for 2012

I know it's a probably a bit late now but - Happy New Year!

And with the new year, Glass Oyster has launched it's new collection for 2012. As always, the floral element is ever present, as I just love my florals, but these have been expressed in soft organza flowers and tulle rosettes as well as my usual bead work. I've particularly loved the hand beaded embroidery on some of the pieces such as Bethany, Nina and Paulette. Some of the pieces definitely have a vintage vibe such as Nina - the cocktail hat with a large, tulle bow. Others are soft, romantic pieces such as Gerty which features lace against the shimmer of mother of pearl. The collection will be available in stockists in the early spring. Church on Time? ............Just!

We recently had a customer order from the US. She had seen the beautiful Odette Hair Band (pictured) and had fallen in love with it and just had to have it for her wedding. The order was completed and dispatched in plenty of time for her big day................until a certain volcano erupted in Iceland!

Her gorgeous hair accessory which was purchased to add the finishing touch to her outfit, sat in the Fedex depot for 5 days waiting for the ash cloud to clear. As her wedding day grew nearer, here at Glass Oyster, we were watching the news updates and checking the Fedex website every day to see if her order had started to make its way across the Atlantic. At last, 2 days before her wedding, it was dispatched but we were still nervous as the parcel had to clear customs and get from Memphis to New Hampshire in time.

It was delivered on the morning of the eve of her wedding - you couldn't really get much closer than that! Thanks to all at Fedex, it really was a happy ending for our Bride!

In Love with Lace

Here at Glass Oyster, we just adore lace gowns. Ever so feminine but also extremely on trend right now as lace can look oh so vintage. Charlotte Balbier's 2010 collection is a stunning example of how lace although timeless and classic can also have a modern edge. We love the gorgeous "Willow" gown with the shoulder detailing.

For something a little different, have a look at Claire Pettibone's latest collection, Her simply stunning ethereal gowns are a refreshing change to what we normally see on the runways and are just so beautiful. "Moonflower" is our favourite!

To compliment a gogeous lace gown, especially if you are looking for a vintage feel, our Victoria Hair Band is ever so pretty and understated. Made from mother of pearl, antiqued silver beads and diamante there is decoration on both sides of the band to look like two combs in the hair. The hair band can be wrapped in a ribbon to compliment your hair colour so that it sits camouflaged in the hair.

It's been a little while coming but the new collection for 2010 is almost here. We are just putting the last finishing touches to the designs and then they will be uploaded to the website and rolled out through our stockists. Some of the new collection is already on there such as the Oriel Hair Band, £135.00 (pictured) - a beautiful hair accessory mounted on a camouflaged band to blend in with the Brides hair colour and which nestles just next to the ear.
